Four rails matter in the Philippines: GCash, Maya, bank transfer through InstaPay or QR Ph, and cash at retail counters. Since 16 August 2025 a top-up starts on the operator's cashier page rather than inside a wallet app. GCash ceilings follow the verification tier — ₱10,000 unverified, ₱50,000 semi-verified and ₱100,000 fully verified — and minimums on most platforms sit between ₱100 and ₱250.

The verification tier is the real limit, not the platform

Readers usually blame the operator when a top-up is refused, and usually the wallet is the constraint. A GCash account that has not completed full verification holds ₱10,000 at most; a semi-verified one moves up to ₱50,000; only a fully verified profile reaches the ₱100,000 balance and the ₱100,000 daily transfer ceiling. Nothing an operator does can raise those numbers.

The consequence is worth planning around. Complete the wallet's own verification before the platform's, keep the names identical across the ID, the wallet and the account, and the whole chain behaves predictably afterwards. A mismatch anywhere in that chain surfaces later, at the payout stage, where it is far more expensive to fix — see our withdrawal methods page.

What changed on 16 August 2025

Gambling shortcuts were removed from e-wallet apps in August 2025, which sounds administrative and is actually the most visible change of the last two years. Before that, a session could begin inside the wallet; now it must begin on the operator's cashier, with the wallet only confirming a request that already exists.

For a careful reader the new order is an advantage. The cashier page is where the reference number, the exact amount and the receiving account are shown, and checking those three things before approving anything in the wallet closes off the most common misdirected-payment problem in the market. A request that arrives in a wallet without a matching cashier page open in front of you should simply be declined.

Making a deposit without losing it

  1. Complete wallet verification first — the tier decides the ceiling, not the platform.
  2. Open the cashier on the operator's page and pick the rail before touching the wallet app.
  3. Enter the amount and check the reference number shown on the cashier page.
  4. Approve the request inside GCash, Maya or your bank app and wait for the balance to update.
  5. Fund only from an account in your own name; third-party transfers clear but break the payout later.

If the wallet shows a payment request you did not just create on a cashier page, decline it.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I no longer start a deposit inside the GCash app?
Because gambling shortcuts were removed from e-wallet apps on 16 August 2025. The flow now starts on the operator's cashier page, and the wallet only confirms a request that already exists.
What is the maximum I can hold in GCash?
₱10,000 on an unverified wallet, ₱50,000 semi-verified, and ₱100,000 balance with a ₱100,000 daily transfer ceiling once fully verified.
Can someone else fund my account?
It usually clears and then causes a problem. The funding source has to be in the same name as the gaming account, otherwise the payout stage fails verification.
